About Us...

Her Story

I first met Susanth at Pearl City Church in Hyderabad in 2013. I was introduced to him and his sister Prasanthi by a mutual friend, Lindsey who I was working with at the Dalit Freedom Alliance (OM India). After the service, we all went together for pizza and ice cream. There was an instant connection between us! In fact, my immediate thought was 'uh-oh, here comes trouble'. And I was about right. :-)

Over the next couple of months, I was away from Hyderabad quite a bit, and we didn't see other. But in February, after one of us made a passing comment on Facebook, we started to chat online. Very soon, we could not stop talking! Within a couple of months I had emailed to my brother saying I had met the man I wanted to spend my life with.

Susanth came to visit the UK after I returned to study for a Masters, and I was overjoyed when he proposed to me in December 2015.

Although we have different cultures, backgrounds and experiences, we find these a source of strength, as well challenge. We inspire and encourage each other, learn from and teach each other, we complement each other's strengths - together we make an incredible team...

I have finally 'met my match' in all senses of the phrase and I couldn't be happier! :-)

His Story

It was a Sunday morning at the church and I was running late as usual. Towards the end of the service I was getting ready to bolt to keep up with Sunday at home and I caught a glimpse of Laura as I got up from my seat. To my surprise she was with Lindsey who was my friend from uni in USA. I went up to say hi before I took off and I was right there standing next to Laura as we got introduced. The way she stood with her head up with a majestic persona that lit up the room I got my eyes fixated. My sister who noticed this all the way stamped my foot several times to stop me from making things weird but I couldn’t help it! Luckily nothing went wrong. We then went downstairs to the cafeteria to get coffee and we talked. She talked in a British accent that I never heard of in real life but the way she carried herself throughout I was mesmerized.  The only thing I could do was pray “God help me!” By the end of our chat over coffee folks decided to go get lunch at a pizza joint followed by ice cream. I swooned along till evening and then she left. I went home and looked her up on facebook and tried messaging her. 2 months and there was no response like she just vanished. It was long 2 months as I kept checking my inbox until one fine day we caught up on a thread and we started chatting never to stop again.

We met as frequently as we could checking out the pubs in Hyderabad. Our favorite was an evening out in the balcony at a pub sipping on Belgian ale followed by dinner. We talked a lot like there was a lot of catching up to do. Being poles apart we were never short of things to talk about. My love for her grew more and more every day I wanted nothing more than to be with her. I wanted to ask her marry me right away but I thought it best to wait for the perfect moment which did not show up. In December before I left UK I asked Laura to marry me over a simple dinner that I had arranged to celebrate her birthday. She said yes!!!!

As the time paced steadily I began to realize that everything that we had was going to change, it would take me more than our love to stay together. With the circumstances as complex as ours and limits set by time, we knew every step was nothing less than a challenge. I committed our everyday together since the beginning in God’s hands seeking His will. I knew our love as perfect as the universe and everything in it would require nothing less than His presence to exist and last. With Laura on the team as my partner, I am thrilled to enter into a new season in my life!

Our Families

We are both immensely grateful to our families for their support and acceptance. Cross-cultural relationships always present uncertainties and concerns, especially to parents. We are both blessed with strong and loving families who want the best for us, and we are excited for the future as our families come to know, care and support one another.
